Mrs Rorer's Philadelphia Cook Book: A Manual of Home Economics, 1886

Sarah Tyson Rorer was an American food writer and pioneer in the field of domestic science. Rorer has been described as the first American dietitian. In 1884, she founded the Philadelphia School of Cookery. Rorer was in charge of the Philadelphia Cooking School for 18 years and was able to reach 5,000 students through education during that time.
