The book presents retellings of stories from the Old and New Testaments featuring boy heroes like David, Samuel, Joseph, young Jesus, and others, designed to inspire young male readers with models of faith, courage, and moral virtue.
It was part of Altemus's popular line of illustrated gift books for children and young adults.
Condition: The crimson cloth boards feature an embossed illustration of a young man with a sling on the front cover, with light fading and wear. A color frontispiece titled "Moses Spoke to the Children of Israel" is present and bright. Gift inscription on the front endpapers. Some foxing is present on interior pages.
