Familiar Garden Birds of America, Illustrated 1965 First Edition

Who wrote it: Familiar Garden Birds of America was written by Henry Hill Collins, Jr. and Ned R. Boyajian, illustrated by John Cameron Yrizarry and Nina Williams, and published by Harper & Row in 1965. This is the first edition. The book was completed posthumously from Collins's notes.

What it's about: A richly illustrated guide to the birds most commonly found in American gardens and backyards, organized by species with detailed descriptions of behavior, habitat, diet, and song. The format moves between full-color plates and black-and-white drawings, making it as beautiful to browse as it is useful to consult.

Special features: The illustrations are the heart of this book. The full-color plates are lovely, and the black-and-white drawings that appear throughout the text are just as carefully rendered.

Why I like it: The bird art! That is really all there is to say. 

Condition: Red cloth hardcover with pictorial dust jacket. Jacket shows some edge wear and light creasing at the spine. Boards clean underneath. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
