Flight into Oblivion, A. J. Hanna, 1938, First Edition
Who wrote it: Flight into Oblivion is a work of Civil War history by A. J. Hanna, illustrated by John Rae, published by Johnson Publishing Company of Richmond, copyright 1938, first edition.
What it's about: Hanna follows the Confederate cabinet as it fled Richmond in April 1865, through the capture of Jefferson Davis and the scattered escapes of the others, with chapters on Confederate gold, piracy, and a Secretary of State who preferred England. It reads like an adventure story, and every bit of it is true.
Special features: Map endpapers trace the route of the flight from Richmond, and John Rae's illustrations include a frontispiece.
Condition: Grey-green cloth hardcover with pictorial cover, no dust jacket; spine toned, light soiling at the lower spine, and faint pencil marks on the front endpaper. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
Thanks so much for visiting,
❤️ Jess
