Good Housekeeping's Best Book of Fairy Tales and Good Housekeeping's Best Book of Nature Stories, both edited by Pauline Rush Evans and published by Good Housekeeping Magazine, copyright 1957.
The Fairy Tales volume, illustrated by Irma Wilde, gathers stories from the world fairy tale tradition, from Snow White and her dwarfs to The Potted Princess. The Nature Stories volume, illustrated by Mel Hunter, draws on nature writing and animal stories from a wide range of sources.
Condition: Both volumes show significant wear to the spines — the green spine of Nature Stories shows heavy fraying at both ends, and the burgundy spine of Fairy Tales shows heavy deterioration with cloth loss at the spine ends and corners. The gray covers remain largely intact with light soiling. Interiors show age toning; the full-color illustrations in Nature Stories remain bright. Sold as a set.
