Metropolitan Seminars in Art, John Canaday, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1958, complete set of 3 portfolios.

Published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, this complete set of three portfolios is by John Canaday, art critic and longtime reviewer for the New York Times. Portfolio 1: What is a Painting? Portfolio 2: Realism. Portfolio 3: Expressionism. All twelve color prints are present and complete in each portfolio.

The Metropolitan Seminars were designed as an adult education program in art appreciation. Each portfolio pairs a discursive text essay with twelve full-color reproductions of major paintings, intended to be read, discussed, and displayed.

Set of three portfolios in original gray illustrated boxes; all 36 prints present and complete; good condition with age-appropriate wear. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
