Off to the Geysers; or, The Young Yachters in Iceland is the third volume in C.A. Stephens's Camping-Out Series, published in Philadelphia by Henry T. Coates & Co., with copyright entered in 1873 by James R. Osgood & Co. Written as a first-person travel narrative recorded by Wade, it follows a group of American boys on a sailing voyage to Iceland in pursuit of the great geysers.

Stephens was a prolific contributor to Youth's Companion and one of the most widely read boys' adventure writers of the Gilded Age. This volume is equal parts adventure story and popular science, and genuinely transporting in its descriptions of Iceland's volcanic landscape at a time when almost no American had seen it.

The text is illustrated throughout with black-and-white engravings depicting scenes of the voyage, the Icelandic landscape, and the geysers themselves.

Gray decorated cloth hardcover with colorful pictorial boards showing adventure equipment and sporting gear; covers show expected age wear with some rubbing and fading at edges and spine. Interior sound with illustrations intact. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
