Who wrote it: Peace Breaks Out is a 1947 novel by Angela Thirkell, part of her long-running Barsetshire series, published as a Borzoi Book by Alfred A. Knopf in its first American edition.
What it's about: Set in the immediate aftermath of WWII, it follows the Halliday family and their circle as wartime routines give way to a peace nobody quite knows how to live in yet.
Condition: Hardcover with dust jacket, jacket shows wear including a torn and chipped spine top with a small separated fragment, and pencil bookseller notations on the front flap. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
Thanks so much for visiting,
❤️ Jess
