Reading the Landscape, An Adventure in Ecology, May Theilgaard Watts, 1957 (1970 Ninth Printing)
Who wrote it: Reading the Landscape is by May Theilgaard Watts, naturalist at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois, published by Macmillan in 1957. This is the ninth printing, 1970.
What it's about: Watts teaches you to read the land the way you would read a book, from the forests of the Great Smoky Mountains to the Indiana dunes, a quaking bog, and the timberline of the Rockies. It is a classic of popular ecology that is still assigned in classrooms.
Special features: Illustrated throughout with pen and ink drawings of plants and landscapes.
Condition: Blue cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, clean and tight. Gift inscription dated 1972 on the front endpaper. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
Thanks so much for visiting,
❤️ Jess
