A beautifully timeworn set of six antique French books in faded emerald, teal, and sea-glass green, with gilt and black tooling, embossed cloth, and a red leather spine label on the oldest volume. The well-loved, crumbly-edged look is full of old-world character, perfect for French country, cottage, or rustic styling, a garden room, or a collector's shelf.

The set spans 1822 to 1874, from an 1822 Paris edition of La Rochefoucauld's Maximes with an engraved portrait frontispiece to illustrated 19th-century children's stories from Lille and Tours. Two have engraved school prize labels from the Pensionnat and Externat St. Joseph in Saint-Étienne, handwritten and dated 1869 and 1873. The standout is a fold-out Carte de la Seine, a hand-colored river map tracing the Seine from Elbeuf to Paris.

Together they measure approximately 9 x 4 inches.

This set includes:
🌿 Réflexions ou Sentences et Maximes Morales de La Rochefoucauld, with critical notes by L. Aimé-Martin (Paris, Lefèvre, 1822)
🌿 Le Palais dans un Jardin, by Madame Molesworth, adapted from the English by Spes (Société Saint-Augustin, Desclée, De Brouwer)
🌿 Mes Paillettes d'Or, by M. de Montrond (Lille and Paris, J. Lefort, 1874)
🌿 Marianne ou le Dévouement, by Marie-Ange de T*** (Tours, Alfred Mame et Fils, 1869)
🌿 L'Enfant du Naufrage, by Mlle R. Snell (Lille and Paris, J. Lefort)
🌿 Carte de la Seine (fold-out map)
