Singer Sewing Book, Mary Brooks Picken, 1949

Who wrote it: The Singer Sewing Book is by Mary Brooks Picken, published by the Singer Sewing Machine Company in 1949.

What it's about: A complete course in home sewing, from using the machine and its attachments to dressmaking, mending, and household projects like pot holders and slipcovers. Picken was one of the great sewing teachers of the century, and the book is still useful at the machine today.

Special features: Illustrated throughout with step by step drawings and diagrams. This copy carries a gift inscription, “For Margaret Ann from Daddy, April 10, 1950.”

Condition: Tan cloth hardcover with a red cover label, no dust jacket. The first two pages are loose. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.

Thanks so much for visiting,
❤️ Jess
