Tactics: The Practical Art of Leading Troops in War, by P. S. Bond (Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army) and E. H. Crouch (First Lieutenant, U.S. Army), is a detailed military training manual covering infantry tactics, troop leadership, and battlefield organization. The volume includes tables of Army organization, tactical diagrams, and practical instruction drawn from the experience of the First World War era, making it a significant document of early twentieth-century American military doctrine.
This is the First Edition, published by the American Army and Navy Journal, Inc. Copyright 1922 by Major E. B. Garey; printed by The Lord Baltimore Press.
The tan cloth boards feature an embossed rifleman illustration and show moderate wear with some soiling. A handwritten inscription on the cover reads “C.B 186th INF,” and the interior bears a purple rubber stamp: “OFFICERS CLUB / DO NOT TAKE FROM ROOM.” The binding is completely separated, and several pages are present but loose. A remarkable piece of military history with strong provenance.
