Who wrote it: The American Guide is a hardcover source book and travel guide for the United States, edited by Henry G. Alsberg and published by Hastings House in 1949.

What it's about: Alsberg directed the WPA's Federal Writers' Project, and this book gathers that project's state guide material into a single volume, moving through the country highway by highway with essays on history, government, architecture, art, literature, and music woven in.

Condition: Blue cloth hardcover with gilt lettering on the spine and cover, no dust jacket. The spine ends show some fraying and the corners have light wear, with a small mark on the lower spine near the publisher's imprint. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
