A most interesting title! The Electrical Handbook for Women was created by The Electrical Association for Women and edited by Caroline Haslett. Foreword by Sir John Snell. Published in Londin by Hodder & Stoughton, Limited.
It was written to help women understand and promote the safe and effective use of electricity in the home.
Produced by EAW, which was founded in 1924 to educate women about domestic electricity and to promote innovations that improved the lives of housewives.
Includes technical chapters (for example “General Principles of Electricity”) written by women in the EAW along with practical domestic applications: how to use electrical appliances, safety, installation.
It also had an educational/testing component: exam questions for readers to test their knowledge, linked to formal qualifications (for women demonstrators/lecturers) developed by the EAW.
This hardcover from 1934 appears to be a first edition. Dust jacket is included but is torn. Includes map of electrical power lines in England!
