A rare collector's set of The Essayes of Michael Lord of Montaigne, translated by John Florio and published in 1908 by Grant Richards of London. This is the complete 3-volume edition, printed in a limited run of just 1,150 copies for sale in England and America.
Each volume is elegantly bound in brown cloth with elaborate gilt designs to the spine and deckled page edges. The interior features a portrait frontispiece of Montaigne (each book has a different one). A gorgeous decorative set for any antique bookshelf or personal library.
