The Innocence of Father Brown was written by G.K. Chesterton, first published by Cassell in 1926. This is a 1985 Bantam Books edition from their Collection of Mystery Classics series, with an introduction by Elliot L. Gilbert. The stories were originally published in magazines beginning in 1910.

The first collection of Father Brown stories, following a mild-mannered Catholic priest who solves crimes through moral intuition rather than forensic deduction.

**Special features**
The binding is a dark burgundy faux-leather with gold-embossed design, and the endpapers are beautifully marbled in pink and gray. This is a handsome edition that looks exactly right on a shelf of classics.

**Why I like it**
I read this not long ago, and it was my first book by G.K. Chesterton. Definitely a great place to start, and this edition is as good as any!
