Set in the world of Indiana state politics, the story opens with the mysterious delivery of a small brown jug to a sitting governor and builds from there into a light comic mystery with a romantic subplot.
Illustrated by James Montgomery Flagg, the celebrated American artist, with dramatic full-page black-and-white plates in his signature assured and energetic style.
