The Science of Life by Herbert George Wells, Julian S. Huxley, and George Philip Wells, published in this one-volume Literary Guild edition in New York in 1934, is a landmark popular science compendium. Combining Wells' literary authority with Julian Huxley's scientific expertise, the work set out to do for biology what Wells' Outline of History had done for world events.
Running to nearly 900 pages, the book covers the full breadth of biological science and is illustrated throughout with hundreds of black-and-white scientific diagrams and figures.
The blue cloth boards show significant wear, including white spotting across the top surface of the front board, scratches, and scuffing at corners and spine ends. The front inner hinge is cracking and beginning to separate, with cloth binding tape exposed at the inner joint. Interior pages show moderate age toning throughout but remain fully legible. The color frontispiece is bright and intact.
