The Way We Live Now by Anthony Trollope is a classic Victorian novel examining wealth, speculation, politics, and social ambition in late-19th-century England. Often considered one of Trollope’s strongest works, the novel follows the rise and fall of the financier Augustus Melmotte and offers a sharp, satirical portrait of moral compromise and social hypocrisy.
This edition includes an introduction by Marion E. Dodd and was published by Alfred A. Knopf in New York in 1950 as part of the Borzoi Books series.
Condition: Hardcover with dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with gilt stamping remain solid, with light shelf wear and mild fading consistent with age. The dust jacket is present and protected in a clear cover, showing noticeable edge wear, creasing, and small chips, particularly along the spine and corners. Interior pages are clean overall with age toning and some underlining; handwritten notes are present on the back endpaper. Binding is firm and intact.
