**Who wrote it**
The Young and Field Advanced Literary Reader, Part Two was compiled by Ella Flagg Young and Walter Taylor Field and published by Ginn and Company through the Atheneum Press in 1916. Ella Flagg Young was a pioneering educator who served as the first female superintendent of the Chicago Public Schools.
**What it's about**
An advanced school reader designed to introduce students to classic literature, poetry, and essays, with selections drawn from a broad range of authors. It reads as both a classroom anthology and a window into what educated Americans were expected to know in 1916.
**Why I like it**
These old school readers are a real window into how much education has changed, and they still make wonderful reading for anyone who wants an accessible introduction to the classics. I find them endlessly interesting.
**Condition**
Sage green cloth hardcover with decorative cover design; no dust jacket. Cover and spine show wear consistent with age and classroom use. Pages tanned. Binding intact. Please review all photos carefully, and email me with any questions.
Thanks so much for visiting,
❤️ Jess
