Vintage Reprint of 18th-Century French Marriage and Sex Book Set, De l'Homme et de la Femme, 1772

A petite two-volume French set in soft gold tooled leather, and a fun story once you know what it is. This one's a curiosity piece perfect for an apothecary cabinet, a curated curiosities shelf, or anywhere you want guests to ask, "wait, what IS that book?"

This is a 1975 limited facsimile edition of De l'Homme et de la Femme, Considérés Physiquement dans l'État du Mariage ("Of Man and Woman, Considered Physically in the State of Marriage"), which is an 18th-century medical treatise on marital anatomy by an anonymous "M. de L***, Chirurgien."

A faithfully reproduced copy of the original 1772 edition, right down to the antique long-"s" typeface, printed in Paris and bound in Marigny-le-Châtel as a numbered, non-commercial edition. So while it reads and looks like an 18th-century original at a glance, it's actually a beautifully made 50-year-old reproduction.

Together they measure approximately 6.75 x 3.25 inches.
