Who wrote it: The Wisley Book of Gardening: A Guide for Enthusiasts was produced by the Royal Horticultural Society in association with Collingridge, edited by Robert Pearson, with a foreword by Lord Aberconway and line drawings by Charles Stitt. This is the First American Edition of 1983, published by W. W. Norton, with copyright dating to 1981.

What it's about: Drawing on the expertise of the staff at the RHS garden at Wisley, the book gathers practical, beautifully illustrated guidance on everything from garden design and trees to alpines, roses, and the kitchen garden. It is written for the keen amateur who wants to garden well.

Special features: The book is richly illustrated with full color photographic plates and Charles Stitt's detailed botanical line drawings throughout.

Why I like it: I love the photos of gardens and the botanical illustrations.
